Funds to Farms: A Celebration of Local Food is a unique micro-funding program for beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs, presented by Atherton Mill & Market, Edible Charlotte and Slow Food Charlotte in partnership with Slow Money NC,  the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association and the Abundance Foundation.

Sunday, May 12 6:30 – 8:30 PM

At Triple C Brewing Company, 2900 Griffith Street. 

Tickets are $20 ($15 for farmers) and are available online and at the door.

 
How it works:
  • Three beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs have been selected through an application process to present their idea for a project or needed tool for their business at Funds to Farms.
  • The three selected beginning farmers and food entrepreneurs will present their ideas during dinner to attendees of Funds to Farms.
  • Funds to Farms  attendees will vote at the end of the presentations and the winner will receive a micro-grant generated from the money raised from ticket sales and donations.
The Dinner - provided by Roots – Good.Local.Food
  • Free Range Local Chicken Provencal
    Roasted free range local chicken, thyme, rosemary and oregano, grilled local veggies, and fusilli pasta,topped with shaved parmeson
  • Vegetarian Lasagna
    Lots of fresh local veggies layered with handmade pasta, ricotta, fresh herbs and a bright tomato sauce
  • Local Greenery
    Lots of local greens and fresh herbs tossed with local beets and carrots in a simple black pepper vinaigrette

Funds to Farms: A Celebration of Local Food

Thanks for an amazing turnout at the first Funds to Farms!

$2,900 was raised through ticket sales and donations.

Thanks to the amazing support from our sponsors and the Triangle community all five presenters were able to take home funds for their projects. Plus, some money was kept to help sustain future Funds to Farms events.

The strength of this community and its commitment to local foods is the reason that these farmers now have some extra money to help improve their businesses. Thanks to each of you for all that you do for local food!
